Weight A Second

I thought I'd tell you all about a contest we have going within the band.  You see, it all started one night at practice when out of nowhere - well, really it was when Beth threw out a "let's see who can do the most push ups" challenge to all her band-mates.  You can view the contest here:  Spontaneous JPBand Push Up Contest

After our little push up contest, we started talking about how we were all needing to lose a few lbs. - well, all of us except Eric, that is.  We started talking health foods and diets and then it was decided -- Girls against Guys.  The contest we all agreed upon is to see who can lose the most weight (% body weight lost).  We didn't set a goal date yet - although, I am thinking it should be by the end of August.   I'd like to know when you (the fans) think our goal date should be - so please make sure to put your date in the comments section below!

Sirloin & Peppery Tomato Reduction Sauce - Yummy!
Michael and I both started the Paleo Diet 2 weeks ago.  I am proud to report that I have lost 6 lbs. in that 2 week period!  I have never lost that amount with any other diet I have tried - and I have tried quite a bit - even one that was a crazy juice diet (make sure to ask Michael about THAT one some time!  All you need to say is one word - GINGER!)   Not only have I lost weight, I feel good!  I feel lighter instead of having a bowling ball in my belly.  It really is the first diet that I think I could keep as a new lifestyle.  There are so many resources out there with recipes and ideas.  One of my favorite blogs right now is http://paleomg.com   The recipe pictured to the right was from Clean Eating.  I made it without Wor.Sauce and it was delicious!  We even served it at a dinner party we had and our guests loved it!   If any of you out there are fellow paleo foodies, I'd love to hear from you!

Here's to health and to the Girls winning the band weight contest!!!

Don't forget to comment a date you think the last weigh in should be!  We want to hear from you!

  1. That Sirloin really does look good.

Anyway, I think the contest should end the day before Labor Day. The loser should also prepare Labor Day brunch or dinner.
