Life is great...Pets make it better.

I have to tell you I am not a blogger.  I don't even really know what to say.  I really like face to face talking with people much better.

If you know me, then you know I love animals.  They aren't in it for themselves.  They sense when people like or don't like them and they can tell if the love given them is sincere or fake.  Maybe that is one of the reasons I like them so much.

We have three cats.  I was never really a cat person - but, somehow these three found us.  Leon was from NY and we took him in when the kids of the neighborhood said their parents wouldn't let them keep the kitty and the kids shouted to us "you're his last hope!"   So, we took in Leon at 6 months old and now he is about 15yrs.

After moving to NC and settling in - two cats that came around together started hanging out at our house.  I started to pet them and feed them and then we started letting them come in the house when it was below freezing.  Then we started taking them in every night.  They both came together.  One was larger/fluffy and "talked" very soft while the other one was smaller, but fiesty and loud!  We thought that the larger one was a girl and that the smaller one was a boy - so we named them Sophie and Little Kitty.  Little did we know that Sophie was really a boy and Little Kitty was a girl.

Speaking of Sophie, he had a real bad experience when we first took him in.  He was lost for a few days.  We couldn't find him.  We called for him every night and only Little Kitty came.  We thought he might be dead.  I was sad.  I can't take losing an animal.  Well, after a few days, this skinny (and I mean skinny) looking cat came up to our door - it was Sophie!  He was yellow in his skin and eyes.  Something was wrong - really wrong.  Joyce ended up taking him to the vet - I couldn't do it.  I was too sad.  I was afraid he was going to die.

He ended up having really bad jaundice but the vet said that if Sophie would eat/drink, then he had a good chance of making it.  We got him special wet food that was super packed with nutrients.  He ate it and started getting better after about a week.  Little Kitty was by his side the whole time.

After all this, we ended up getting them fixed and got collars/licenses for them.  They have been with us ever since.  I added a few pictures for you to see them.  Upper left pics are from when Sophie was sick.  Black and White is Leon and Little Kitty is the striped cat with white boots.
