Small Town Girl

I am not sure exactly how it came to be, but as much as I love the thrill of experiencing different places/towns/cities/countries, I am still a small town girl at heart.  Sometimes I wonder if a "love for the city" or a "love for the country" is written in our DNA before we were born or if it blossoms out of our experiences as we grow/learn life along the way.  For this girl, I think it was a little of both.

Growing up as the oldest of three in a tight knit second generation Brazilian and third generation German immigrant family, I spent a lot of time with my immediate family and also with families that my parents knew growing up (who also spoke German and Portuguese).  My family lived an hour and a half north of NYC and would travel every Sunday (for many of my childhood years) to the church my parents grew up in:   http://www.immanuelchurchny.org/our-history/   It was a great place.  I have many fond memories of strong community with the people from the that church; memories of many events at their homes, at Nassau Beach and also one of my favorites - our annual camping in the Catskill mountains.

Another contributing factor to my love for small town / country type living comes from growing up in a townhouse community in Beacon, NY.  This townhouse community was not like it is in town-home communities today.   Everyone knew each other.  All the kids grew up playing together throughout the complex - outside every possible day we could!  We had birthday parties there, went to the same community pool, rode bikes around the complex and also to school.  We would go sledding on the two small hills in the winter and rush to the ice cream truck or eat ice pops on someones front steps after catching lightning bugs in the summer.  Certain smells in the air can bring me instantly to that time / place in my childhood.  My parents worked hard to be in that townhouse.  I am thankful for that and for them.

Thursday

Hello everyone,  I'm trying to do this from my phone!  Not a lot this week so far.  A lot of moving people around where I work at. Not complaining at all!  That actually gives me a little money to pay bills and have a weekend!  We all know how that is.
We play Saturday at Chevys ale house on 55!  Am excited about it.  I have several friends that say they are going.  We learned a few more cover songs, just for this gig.  It's going to be fun.  Well, I don't really have much to say, except, I look forward to seeing our fans that come out to hear us play! Don't be shy!  Come on up and introduce yourselves to us on our break!  Hope every one is having a great week and take someone fishing when ya can!!  Thanks!!  Eric

Oh yea!!  PS...  Check out this 35lb monster my brother caught in Oklahoma!!

Top 10 Favorite Bands/Artists and a song from each...(Part 1)

My 10 favorite bands/artists is probably not an easy list to make but eh, I will give it a shot! I've got so many influences from all around the world of music. Here goes...In NO particular order, my favorite bands/artists and my favorite songs from them are....

1. Hootie and the Blowfish - not Darius Rucker's reincarnated country crap either...the REAL DEAL. When he was authentic. When the songs meant something and singing and playing was about having a great time with friends and entertaining people with meaningful songs and great lyrics.

Favorite Song: Not Even The Trees

2. Lynyrd Skynyrd - One of the first bands that I can remember listening to in the living room with my father. I vividly remember thumbing through a huge stack of vinyl records just to wish I could have been alive back then.

Favorite Song : Mr Banker

3. Our Lady Peace - The perfect mix of incredible musicianship, melody, and songwriting. Not even going to lie...I was late to this party but once I started listening, I couldn't get enough! I really LOVE the early records but even the newer stuff has the same characteristics of OLP that made them awesome.

Favorite Song : 4am

4. John Mayer - Yes, I'm one of those people. How can you not be? He is one of those musical/lyrical geniuses that is so beyond anyone else that he seems( and often is) extremely quirky. Incredible songwriter. Incredible guitar player.

Favorite Song : 3x5

5. Dave Matthews Band - I am also "one of those" people...When I was in middle school and high school it was the "cool thing" to like Dave Matthews Band, mainly because it was just different and fun. I, like many other musicians, listened because of the amazing musicianship behind the songs. Quirky? YES. Genius? YES. A lot of my playing style comes from trying to emulate his songs. Neat little fact...I named my son after the GREAT Carter Beauford...so fun to watch!

Favorite Song : Repunzel

6. Gov't Mule - What can I say? Just an unbelievable band with southern rock/jazz roots. Music for musicians. Warren Haynes has the most incredible tone of any guitar player in the world.

Favorite Song : Thorazine Shuffle

7. The Beatles - I got nothin...You know why they made my list. Because they started it all. The harmonies, the songwriting, the evolution of a band...they had it all.

Favorite Song : Penny Lane

8. Better Than Ezra : Mid 90's rock is perfect to me...I could list a million different groups that embodied everything that I love in music from this era, but Better Than Ezra is top of that list for me. Melodic vocals, rocking guitar licks, groove, and lyrics. I truly believe that ROCK MUSIC died at the end of the 90's. When POPular music was ROCK,  the world was a better place...How we went from good songwriting and skilled musicians to Justin - friggen - Bieber is beyond me...It's a tragedy.

Favorite Song :  Desperately Wanting

9. U2 - Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr have that thing that makes music so awesome. Separate, they are "ok" at best on their instruments...Together, they have and will continue to rule the world.

Favorite Song : Where the Streets Have No Names

10. Steve Earle - The song "Snake Oil" from the Copperhead Road album is the single reason that I learned to play the guitar. Steve Earle is my overall favorite songwriter. I don't know what it is really other than the fact that he is just REAL. He has struggled with addiction and you can feel the pain in his voice and read it in the lyrics.

Favorite Song : Billy Austin

There are SO MANY more...maybe a second list is coming in the future...probably will. Click the links and enjoy some great tunes!!!

Life is great...Pets make it better.

I have to tell you I am not a blogger.  I don't even really know what to say.  I really like face to face talking with people much better.

If you know me, then you know I love animals.  They aren't in it for themselves.  They sense when people like or don't like them and they can tell if the love given them is sincere or fake.  Maybe that is one of the reasons I like them so much.

We have three cats.  I was never really a cat person - but, somehow these three found us.  Leon was from NY and we took him in when the kids of the neighborhood said their parents wouldn't let them keep the kitty and the kids shouted to us "you're his last hope!"   So, we took in Leon at 6 months old and now he is about 15yrs.

After moving to NC and settling in - two cats that came around together started hanging out at our house.  I started to pet them and feed them and then we started letting them come in the house when it was below freezing.  Then we started taking them in every night.  They both came together.  One was larger/fluffy and "talked" very soft while the other one was smaller, but fiesty and loud!  We thought that the larger one was a girl and that the smaller one was a boy - so we named them Sophie and Little Kitty.  Little did we know that Sophie was really a boy and Little Kitty was a girl.

Speaking of Sophie, he had a real bad experience when we first took him in.  He was lost for a few days.  We couldn't find him.  We called for him every night and only Little Kitty came.  We thought he might be dead.  I was sad.  I can't take losing an animal.  Well, after a few days, this skinny (and I mean skinny) looking cat came up to our door - it was Sophie!  He was yellow in his skin and eyes.  Something was wrong - really wrong.  Joyce ended up taking him to the vet - I couldn't do it.  I was too sad.  I was afraid he was going to die.

He ended up having really bad jaundice but the vet said that if Sophie would eat/drink, then he had a good chance of making it.  We got him special wet food that was super packed with nutrients.  He ate it and started getting better after about a week.  Little Kitty was by his side the whole time.

After all this, we ended up getting them fixed and got collars/licenses for them.  They have been with us ever since.  I added a few pictures for you to see them.  Upper left pics are from when Sophie was sick.  Black and White is Leon and Little Kitty is the striped cat with white boots.

Life is great....and pets make it better!

T.G.I.F.! Or....T.G.F.T.?

T.G.I.F.  We've all heard it.  We've all said it. "Thank God It's Friday!"

We run so hard during the week with all sorts of things keeping us busy - work, school, family, kids, pets, laundry, cars (and all the extra stuff in between) - that it is so easy to want to throw our hands up in the air and do the TGIF dance on Fridays without even a thought of how we just blew by the rest of the week.  I am thankful for Fridays - for sure!  I get to wear jeans to work, people are more relaxed in general and everyone can't wait for the weekend!

I'm glad so many people are happy on Fridays.  But I really wish that we could honestly say T.G.I.M. (Thank God It's Monday) or T.G.I.T. (Thank God It's Tuesday) every day of the week.  I guess most of us don't really want to "T.G.I.M." because it means getting back into the grind of work - or going to school and having a pop exam waiting - or trying to take care of 3 preschool kids and a dog without any help during the day - or being in a house alone the whole week with no one calling you.

One of the remedies for a change of perspective on Monday drudgery (or any other typical work week day) is having a critical life event happen to you or a loved one.  It could be getting a certain test result from a doctor or it could be having a close call fender bender on the way home from work.   All of a sudden, life and living seem to be a little more precious.  All of a sudden, it's not just Fridays you're happy for, but every day of living!

So, on this Friday, take a moment to be thankful for the weekend, yes....but, also be thankful for each day God has granted and gifted you!  He has given us all unique life journeys ~ in this time/space ~ with this particular  family ~ at this exact job/company ~ with these friends ~ let us all live it to the MAX!  And let us all be thankful for every day gifted to us!

T.G.F.T.!  (Thanking God For Today!),
Joyce

Dude! Quit actin' like a FOOL!

Josh here with a little more insight on ME, the things I love and the reasons why...Why you ask? Because this is a blog, and that's what we do.

Besides God, Crystal and my kids, the two things I LOVE more than anything else are music (duh) and sports...Since I was a little boy I can remember sitting with my dad and my grandpa either in the stands or in front of a TV watching the NC State Wolfpack, Atlanta Braves, IceCaps (remember them Raleigh folks?), Charlotte Hornets, and of course the Washington Redskins.

If you really think about it, music and sports are a perfect match. Let me explain...

Name me ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF that you can have an absolute blast doing, even if you're no good at it...

I vividly remember sitting for hours on end in my bedroom beating on a busted guitar, listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and failing miserably to come even close to sounding like Steve Gaines, Allen Collins, Ed King and Gary Rossington. I remember these times so well because of the release it gave me. Because of the intense emotions it brought me and the escape from everything else in life. (Life is SO difficult as a 10 year old ya know!) Kinda like going 0 for 15 from beyond the three point line at the old black top basketball court behind the local elementary school before hitting the 16th shot and imagining yourself under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden. (or in my case Reynolds Coliseum)

Name ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF that you can remember tons of info about/for seemingly effortlessly...

I had the hardest time in school remembering the answers to questions I had studied over and over again. I have a hard time today remembering birthdays, our show dates or worst of all, what Crystal said she wanted for her birthday. That said, I can tell you off the top of my head how many touchdowns Phillip Rivers threw in his last year at NC State (34). Or the lifetime batting average for my favorite baseball player, David Justice (.279).

And best of all....EVERY SINGLE WORD to Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice or Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. (You can too..don't act like I'm lying...)

Here is my personal favorite - Name ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD where you can act like a COMPLETE AND TOTAL FOOL and nobody looks at you funny...

If you've ever been to an ACC Tournament basketball weekend you know exactly what I'm talking about. In 1997 NC State made it ALL THE WAY to the championship game. I was in middle school. I skipped with my dad to drive to Greensboro to watch them play the "play in game". They weren't expected to even get past that round. We won. And Won again, and again...I was beyond ecstatic..Jumping, screaming, crying, my voice went out and my face was the color of the Wolfpack jerseys. And Guess what? I wasn't the only one! I was among great company of kids AND adults acting the same way. I'm not so sure you'd still have friends or a job if you showed that same emotion after closing a big sale or rebuilding the brake system on Mrs. Johnson's Buick...Just sayin'. Same goes for my first concert. Jimmy Buffet...If you've ever been, I don't need to say anymore...Singing, dancing, laughing, hollering...Losing yourself for a few short hours in a way that is only acceptable during sporting events or concerts! It's awesome!

In conclusion, I hope this sheds a light on why I love the things I love...MUSIC and SPORTS are the only things in this crazy world we live in where politics, religious beliefs and personal differences DON'T MATTER! For a brief period in time you can sit back, forget about all of these things and completely be free! So go on, pop in your favorite album, pick up that dusty guitar that you've had sitting in the corner for 15 years and strum away. It doesn't need to be tuned...you can't play it anyway! Turn on the NBA Finals or the NHL Stanley Cup Finals and remove yourself from life for a little bit! You wont get this opportunity ANYWHERE else, with ANYTHING ELSE, ANYTIME SOON!

Weight A Second

I thought I'd tell you all about a contest we have going within the band.  You see, it all started one night at practice when out of nowhere - well, really it was when Beth threw out a "let's see who can do the most push ups" challenge to all her band-mates.  You can view the contest here:  Spontaneous JPBand Push Up Contest

After our little push up contest, we started talking about how we were all needing to lose a few lbs. - well, all of us except Eric, that is.  We started talking health foods and diets and then it was decided -- Girls against Guys.  The contest we all agreed upon is to see who can lose the most weight (% body weight lost).  We didn't set a goal date yet - although, I am thinking it should be by the end of August.   I'd like to know when you (the fans) think our goal date should be - so please make sure to put your date in the comments section below!

Sirloin & Peppery Tomato Reduction Sauce - Yummy!
Michael and I both started the Paleo Diet 2 weeks ago.  I am proud to report that I have lost 6 lbs. in that 2 week period!  I have never lost that amount with any other diet I have tried - and I have tried quite a bit - even one that was a crazy juice diet (make sure to ask Michael about THAT one some time!  All you need to say is one word - GINGER!)   Not only have I lost weight, I feel good!  I feel lighter instead of having a bowling ball in my belly.  It really is the first diet that I think I could keep as a new lifestyle.  There are so many resources out there with recipes and ideas.  One of my favorite blogs right now is http://paleomg.com   The recipe pictured to the right was from Clean Eating.  I made it without Wor.Sauce and it was delicious!  We even served it at a dinner party we had and our guests loved it!   If any of you out there are fellow paleo foodies, I'd love to hear from you!

Here's to health and to the Girls winning the band weight contest!!!

Don't forget to comment a date you think the last weigh in should be!  We want to hear from you!

20 things you don't know about me!

So, I was reading US weekly the other day and they have an article called 25 things you don't know about me. It's where a famous person tells you 25 personal things about them that not many people know. I really like that idea, so I thought I would do a list about me. I could only come up with 20 ( and that was pushing it). So, here goes......

1) I am deathly afraid of roaches. The girls from work and I tried to go to Chick-fil-a today and there were at least 6 dead roaches out front! We had to go eat somewhere else because if there were 6 dead ones outside, I was scared of what was inside!!!

2) My favorite  all time band is Aerosmith. Bart even got me a signed Aerosmith album for Christmas one year!!!

3) I know all the words to The Humpty Dance by Digital Underground.

4) my first job was a pharmacy tech

5) My dream was to move the New York City and perform on Broadway

6) I like to make and decorate cakes

7) I attended church my entire life, but I didn't get saved until I was 17

8) I collect aprons

9) I saw Kevin Bacon on the Subway in NYC

10) My first car was a Nissan 240sx

11) I put ketchup on EVERYTHING

12) my favorite candy is Hot Tamales

13) I spent a summer trying almost every flavor at Pelican's snowballs

14) I've ran out of Gas 4 times in my life

15) I love to plan parties.

16) I can water ski

17) my musical inspiration is Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline

18) I auditioned for American Idol with Josh ( that is a story for maybe a dual blog in the future)

19) My favorite holiday is Halloween

20) I have known my best friend since we were six weeks old.

So, I know some of this seems random, but now you know a little more(maybe more than you wanted) about who I am. I hope my band mates do a post like this in the future. I would love to see what crazy stuff they come up with!

My family and I are leaving Saturday for Royce's first beach trip, so look out for some pics and a post about what crazy things we get into!!!

Fanconi Anemia and My Little Hero!

Hello everyone!

Josh here. This week Crystal, Carter, Ethan and myself are in Minneapolis, MN for Carter's 3 year post bone marrow transplant appointments! I thought it may be appropriate to give you guys a little glimpse into Carter's story. A lot of you guys already know the story, however, I know there are some new folks who may be taking a look!

Carter was born On October 12th 2006. In a pre-natal ultrasound the doctors determined that he was missing his right kidney so we knew there were going to be a few tests done after birth. He was born with a hypoplastic right thumb, a small hole in his heart and very few other issues. Yet to us, he was PERFECT! When we noticed that he hadn't gained any weight from his 6 month to 1 year check-ups we realized that there may be more going on.

After countless tests, and a whole lot of persistence from my wife we were sent to Duke University Children's Hospital for extensive testing. When it seemed like there would NEVER be an answer, it came. A doctor at Duke walked in our room and said "There is one more thing...It was an extra credit question on an exam in med school. A lot of the symptoms seem to match up, but it is VERY rare and most likely will not be it." **** It was. She called us in to the office in late November to tell us that our son had Fanconi Anemia. "Do not go home and google it" she said. "The statistics are not very positive."

SO NATURALLY, the first thing we did was went home and Googled it...it wasn't very pretty.

After more research over the next few months as well as discussing things with everyone who would listen, a strange thing happened. My father-in-law's company had recently been bought by another company. His new boss was located in Alabama. During a phone call one morning Dennis mentioned the diagnosis to his boss who replied, "You're kidding me. That's extremely rare! You won't believe this but my nephew has Fanconi Anemia and the discovery channel just did a special on him and his family!" **** EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON! We talked with the family in Alabama and decided that we NEEDED to go to the University of Minnesota and speak with Dr John Wagner, one of the foremost experts in Fanconi.

That we did. And BOY was it cold! Our first trip to Minneapolis, MN was in January of 2008. We left 70 degree weather in Raleigh, NC only to land at the Minneapolis/ St Paul airport to hear the pilot say, "Welcome to Minneapolis. The weather is a brisk 4 degrees with northwest winds at 20 mph."  JUST TAKE ME HOME!

We met with Dr Wagner and really liked him. We came up with a plan for action which involved an extremely risky bone marrow transplant. That was the first and the only time throughout the ENTIRE process that Dr Wagner told us that Carter may not make it home from Minneapolis. It was devastating, but we kinda already knew this.

The year went by with Carter's blood counts steadily dropping. Around December of 2009 his counts were at a critical low. We knew it was time for the transplant and this was confirmed in a late night phone call with Dr Wagner. We were packing are bags for one of the hardest and longest trips we would ever have to make.

We arrived at our new home in late January 2010 and got settled in for what was inevitably going to be the most difficult 6 months of our lives. In early February the chemo and radiation started. Carter became sicker and sicker. He got his "new blood" a few days later and it was all a waiting game to see if it took. After a few days we started seeing good signs. His new blood was working! The doctors were amazed at how quickly and how well it was going! ****

We were released from the hospital 14 days after the transplant had taken place. I think that's got to be some sort of record! This new found freedom was a huge blessing even though Carter still had to stay in the apartment with a mask on at all times.

In May of 2010 we were given the ALL CLEAR to fly back home to Raleigh. We were scared to death and hesitant to leave our security blanket of the comprehensive care unit at the U of M but we were ready for the support of home. Plus, a lot of families didn't have a world renown BMT hospital like Duke in their backyard to go home to, so we were blessed! ****

About 2 weeks after coming home Carter got a terrible line infection which for all intents and purposed nearly killed him. We were admitted to Duke for a month.

Things got progressively better and better over the next few months and it looked like we were out of the initial threats of this horrible disease! In fact, it was going so well that Dr Wagner said during his 1 year post BMT appointment that "if I(he) hadn't done the transplant himself, he wouldn't believe that he had gone through anything!" ****

During the stay at Duke we learned that we were expecting our 2nd little boy! This was pretty amazing since Crystal's doctor had all but told her that she'd never have anymore kids****...She underwent a process called Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis prior to Carter's transplant to try and conceive a perfectly matched sibling that would be the BEST donor for Carter. It was a very invasive process that would likely ruin all hope of having more children...thank GOD the doctor was WRONG! Our second son, Ethan, was born in February of 2011 healthy and free of Fanconi Anemia.

As I sit here and look back at all that we as a family have gone through in 6 short years, I am amazed at nearly every single aspect. God has brought us through so much to get us where we are today. Even though the struggles for Carter aren't over yet and stage two of this dreaded disease is eminent we are truly blessed that when given the opportunity to either HATE God and turn from Him or lean on HIM completely and know that His hand was guiding everything, we chose the latter.

Carter's strength and spirit has changed the lives of nearly ever person he has come in contact with. This journey has given me, my music and my LIFE a purpose. Whatever we are playing and wherever we are playing it I know that I'm continuing to tell a story that may change even more lives. Whether by bringing awareness to Fanconi Anemia or just conveying the FAITH that brought us to where we are today, I have a purpose for being in front of a crowd, a reason to shout and a little HERO at home to thank for ALL OF THIS.

This journey has made me realize that we all have a gift and a story. When we use these two things together great things can happen.

**** = things that happened that MAN cannot do. Only GOD

Working Days, Nights and Weekends

Another day, another thousand Peanut M&M’s – and Mike&Ike's, and Mixed Nuts, and Hot Tamales, and chocolate covered raisins, and Skittles, and Cashews, and Reese's Pieces and Bubble gum balls.   No, I don’t eat them, I sell them.  I have my own vending business.   They are the machines you put a quarter in and get a handful of whatever treat you desire at the time.   And let me tell you, that it’s not just pouring candy/nuts.  I am basically on call all the time.  If a piece breaks, I’ve gotta go and fix it.

One of my students - Faith
When I am not vending or playing for The Josh Pepper Band, I teach drums.  I’ve been playing for more years than I’d like to admit!  (Okay, I’ll tell you I’ve been playing since I was twelve….which means I have been playing longer than some of my band mates have been alive!)   I teach mainly on Wednesdays and Thursdays – and not only teach out of my home studio, but will also travel to your home.  So, let me know if you or someone else you know is interested in learning to play drums.

Well, that is a little more info into my working world.  Until next time, Rock on!

It Is Well

Well, let me start out by saying that I haven't had a day off in a very long time!  I am an Office Administrator for a local engineering firm here in Raleigh, NC.  I manage 15 different office overhead budgets and 10 different Administrative staff up and down the northeast.  It is a lot of work and has challenged and grown me in many different ways - one of which is learning how to really have work/life balance.  So, you can imagine how excited I was knowing that I was about to take off (unplug from the corporate world) for two full work days to go to my very favorite place - The Beach!  Not only that, but I was going to be spending it with my husband and family!  No phones, no email....just the sound of the ocean and my feet hitting the warm soft sand and some of my favorite peeps in the world with me.  Oh yeah...count me in!

The day before I left, I decided to check the weather so I knew how to pack and I have to say that when I looked at the weather forecast for my two days off, I was really bummed out.  I mean, not only was there a chance of rain, it was calling for tropical storm Andrea to hit!  "Why, now!?! Seriously God??  I have two days to relax at my favorite place and it is calling for a tropical storm?"  (Michael would be happy of course - because he loves weather and is a hobbyist Storm Chaser.  More about that in another blog post!) Well, there was no stopping this girl from going to the beach - even a tropical storm - so off we went!

When we arrived we suited up and headed right for the ocean - sun hats and all!  I was so happy I couldn't get down to the beach fast enough!  The ocean was rough but the breeze was perfect!  Whether I am riding the waves or rubbing my toes in the sand - I get very contemplative on the beach.  The vastness of the might ocean totally reminds me of how much I am not in control.  It reminds me of how great our Creator is -- and how every time and season (and weather pattern) is really an awesome picture of God's creative and sovereign artistry.

Every time I am on the beach, I always think of the hymn "It Is Well".  (Mostly because of part in it where it talks about sea billows rolling.) It reminds me that even when the weather (or life) forecast is going to be rough, It Is Well with my soul because of the mercy and grace of God!  I thought I'd add the lyrics here for you to read.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Chorus:
It is well, it is well
with my soul, with my soul
It is well, it is well, with my soul

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall decend,
Even so!  It is well, with my soul!

See ya'll next blog post!

The weather is a bit of an issue for now and tomorrow, but hey!! We have the weekend coming and we have A LOT to be thankful for. Today was pretty routine for me. Got music on my mind and how I’m going to spend my weekend.

Silly, yes, but I thought it was funny to think about. Well, There ya go.

Just may try and catch me a fish this weekend and think about what else I can put on here next week. I hope to catch another one of these!!!! Just under 8lbs!!! Yaw wish me luck!! I’ll let ya know!! Thanks for your time and interest in our band. We all have a lot to be thankful for. I know I do. Have a great weekend!!!!

I Am Murphy

Okay guys! It's my turn to write on here! I am so excited about this opportunity to let you all into the lives of The Josh Pepper Band! As Josh said, we are all quirky in our own way! I hope that you will enjoy reading this as much as we are going to enjoy writing! This is going to be awesome to see how we grow and change on here, and for all of you to get a personal look at each one of us! So, here goes......

This morning started out pretty rough! My alarm didn't go off because our power went out. I was late dropping Royce off for daycare, which meant I was also late for work! To top all that off, it was raining cats and dogs the whole time and I couldn't even find my umbrella! It was alot like the day described in our song I Am Murphy! Needless to say, I was in a pretty grumpy mood by the time I made it to work. Later on I got online and checked this blog that I follow, and the author is a girl who has been trying to have a baby now for 14 months and it has finally happened for her and her husband! She went into detail about how grueling the past year has been for them. I literally was almost in tears. And, then I felt so terrible that I was in a bad mood over something stupid as getting up late, etc. There are so many people who would love to be late because they had to drop their child off at daycare! So, I made a vow to myself today! I have a terrible habit of always being really hard on myself, stressing over things that are out of my control, and always assuming the worst! I am not going to do that anymore! This fellow blogger talked about how she just decided not to worry about having a baby, and she turned it over to God! Now I am a control freak, so this is something that is very hard for me, but I am truly going to stop worrying about things and just pray about them, and see what God wants! I know that sometimes it is not going to be what I want, but I am just going to have to trust that He knows what is better for me than I do. I truly already feel better just saying "God, I trust that you know where and what I need to be, and I am going to give you all the control"! In case you are wondering, my day did get much better as it went on! The sun came out, I picked up a very happy to see me little boy from daycare, and had a great night with my family. I am so very grateful I have them to make me late for work, or want to pull my hair out sometimes! So, I hope the rest of you have a great night as well!!!!

Welcome to "Something To Say" - a unique look into the individual lives of the Josh Pepper Band

Welcome to the Josh Pepper Band Blog! "Something To Say"!

Here you will see posts from EVERY member of the Josh Pepper Band. Not necessarily music related...

Here's the deal. Us five, Josh, Joyce, Eric, Michael and Beth are like family. Over the past couple years we have become much more than a band! We are all friends. We all struggle together. We all celebrate together. We all love each other and would do anything for each other! It's awesome! The coolest part about it is HOW INCREDIBLY different we each are! Age, birth place, culture..you name it! Yet we all have a few things in common. A love for Jesus Christ,  a love for people in general, a love for each other and of course OUR LOVE FOR MAKING AND PLAYING MUSIC among others!

We thought it would be really neat to let you all in on our daily lives. What makes us AS INDIVIDUALS tick. What makes us so different. What is interesting about our individual lives. You may see music posts, cooking posts, fun with family posts, exercise posts (probably not from Josh-hehe). You'll also find cool pictures and videos of our shows, practices and other band stuff!

This blog is not intended to be a MUSIC or BAND blog as much as a look into our personal lives in hopes that you'll all see what makes us stand out from EVERY OTHER group in the business!

Hope you'll join us in a really fun ride! Each one of us has a story. That story may not be intriguing to us but you never know when your story will change the life of another person. So always tell your story! Always use your "Something To Say"!

We sincerely wish for all of our family, friends and fans to feel like you are a part of the JPB family. If there are any questions you'd like to ask us, any ideas you'd like to give us, or anything you want us to post about feel free to shoot us an email at blog.joshpepperband@gmail.com
